In a recent event by Samsung, the Korean company has given the world a new earbud (Galaxy Buds 2 Pro) alongside its Galaxy watch 5/5 Pro and Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy Z Flip4. The earbuds are the successor to last year’s release Galaxy Buds 2.
Samsung is going to take on Apple, Sennheisers, Sonys, and Bose’s decades-long dominance of the market with its new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and become the best wireless earbuds of 2022.
It has all the features that should make it a strong contender: Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), IPX7 water resistance rating, Qi wireless charging support, and great sound quality.

Back in Samsung’s online Unpacked 2021 event, the company unveiled the Galaxy Buds 2 which debuted at $149.99 / £139.99 / AU$219. The original version of the earbuds comes in Lavender, Olive, White, and Graphite. However, within a year and a half after their release, you may buy them for less on internet stores like Amazon.
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, on the other hand, will set you back $229.99 / £219.99 / AU$349, which is $80 / £80 / AU$130 more than what the original earbuds cost. Design:
When it comes to the design the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is not a huge departure from the design of the original Galaxy Buds 2. The most significant change is that they are 10% bigger than the previous version, making them more protective during exercise and other physical activities.
However, due to its small size, the Galaxy Buds 2 are more suitable for small ears than the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
The company has also added a new vent within the Unit to increase air circulation and reduce pressure on your ear. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has the same round shape as its predecessor but they have a matte finish on the outer surface instead of the shiny one.
Another major difference between the two earbuds is waterproofing, the Galaxy Buds 2 is IPX2-rated while the Pro version boasts an IPX7 rating. This means that the latter can be submerged in up to 1.5m of water for 30 minutes, making it ideal for swimming and other water sports.
However, with the IPX7 waterproofing, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro outperforms the AirPods Pro and the Pixel Buds Pro in the waterproofing, which is only IPX4-rated.
Lastly, the controls on Galaxy Buds 2 and 2 Pro are pretty much the same. There is a touch-sensitive panel on the earbud that lets you manage your audio, Calls, and Voice Assistants without reaching for your phone.

Noise Cancellation:
One of the drawbacks of the original Galaxy Buds is the lack of ANC. However, the Galaxy Buds Pro was the first in the series to feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) Which was later carried in Galaxy Buds 2 and the recent release Galaxy Buds 2 Pro with some improvement.
The new earbuds, according to Samsung, provide 3dB more noise reduction in low-frequency sounds and high-frequency sounds than the previous earbuds in this series.
In addition, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro’s transparency mode has been enhanced, and Samsung added Voice Detect to the new earbuds, which is one of the greatest features that allows the earbuds to shift automatically between ANC and transparency mode when they detect a voice.
Voice Assistant:
Both earbuds support voice assistants, however, they come with the default Bixby voice assistant. However, you can change it to Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa through the Galaxy Wearable app.
Bluetooth Connectivity:

The battery performance on both earbuds is quite identical. Both can last up to 5 hours on a single charge with ANC turned on. However, when you turn off ANC, the playtime extends to 8 hours on a single charge.
The charging case of both earbuds gives you an additional 3 charges, which means you can use the earbuds for a total of 20 hours with ANC turned on and 29 hours with ANC turned off.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and 2 support Wireless charging but the Galaxy Buds 2 lacks fast charging support, Which gives an edge to the Pro version.
Both earbuds offer quick charge support. Galaxy Buds 2 provides a 12% charge in just 10 minutes, which can give you 1 hour of listening. Whereas, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro offers 1.5 hours of usage with just a 5-minute charge.
