Astro Gaming A50 is one of the best gaming headsets out there. With the updated version the company has taken what was good about the original and made it even better. Anyway if you are Low on the budget then this headset is not for you. It is a bit pricey but it is worth every penny, trust me.
Design
The A50 headset is solidly built, with prominent aluminum supports that connect the earcups to the headband. It has a more understated design than the previous version, with black and gray or gold accents.
You can find the Boom microphone on the left earcup. It’s a small, black, cylindrical microphone that can be flipped up when not in use.
Whereas, on the right earcup, you can find all the control buttons including the power/mute button, the volume Wheel, a Dolby surround sound button, an equalizer preset button, and a game/voice mix rocker switch on its back panel.
Also, a USB charging port is present on the right earcup as well.
The Build quality of earpads and headbands is just awesome, they are covered with a soft and breathable fabric and the Remaining body is built with aluminum and durable matte black plastic which makes them extremely comfortable even during long gaming sessions.

It also includes a 2.4GHz wireless adapter that plugs into your console’s controller to provide a low-latency connection between the headset and the base station.
Microphone Performance
Well, a Microphone is very necessary while playing games and talking to your teammates. The A50’s microphone is good enough for casual use and even for some professional uses.
Its microphone is very clear and Solid, but still, you have to do some adjustments to bring the best out of them.
However, the microphone on this headset isn’t as effective as the one found on Sennheiser GSP 670 or SteelSeries Arctis 7P.
But to test the microphone quality I used it for Discord calls and in-game voice chat and I was very surprised by the results. My friends could hear me very clearly without any issues.
Music Performance
The A50 is one of the best-sounding gaming headsets I have ever used. They are not just to handle the music, the bass is really deep, the mids are well-balanced, and the highs are clear without sounding harsh.
The mids and highs are also well balanced for me, I listened to some rock songs and the guitar riffs were very clear and sharp.
To test the Bass of the headset I listened to some EDM and Hip-Hop songs and I can say that the A50 did not disappoint me at all, in fact, I was quite surprised by the results.
The A50 has a good soundstage but it’s not as good as the SteelSeries Arctis 7P.
Gaming Performance
When I play the games like COD MW and Rainbow Six Siege with the A50, it becomes apparent why Nickmercs prefers this headset.
The sound in the combat zone is so real that it feels like the enemies are right in front of you, the footsteps are very clear and you can easily locate where they are coming from.
Also, the Dolby surround sound of the headset is a great addition, it really does make a difference in terms of positional awareness.
I can say this the A50 has a very low input lag which is great for competitive gamers.
